over two days we will learn the process of transforming wool into an ancient durable material. this class will explore 3D, seamless methods of felting making in the form of a pouch as well as “living sheepskins” or felted fleeces. each participant will leave with their own pouch or two and a luscious felted sheepskin.
we will be camping alongside the Mattole River in Humboldt county (Petrolia) CA. dinners will be provided Friday and Saturday.
brief layout of the weekend
-arrive Friday by 10am (folks are welcome to arrive Thursday night). set up camp, settle in, welcoming then begin wool processing for pouches. picking and carding wool and getting started on pouch making. dinner together.
-Saturday morning begin processing wool and cleaning fleeces for rugs. this will be a full day project. once finished rugs will hang to dry. end the day with dinner.
-sunday morning departure!
lots of time for swimming, relaxing and enjoying time together.
